The Orbi router and its satellite units use LED indicators to communicate their status. Understanding what these lights mean can help you troubleshoot issues and ensure your network is functioning optimally. This guide will explain the meaning of the various LED indicators on your Orbi devices.
Router and Satellite Power Button LEDs
The power button LEDs on both the router and satellite units provide crucial information about the device’s status:
- Solid Green: The device is powered on. ✅
- Solid Amber/orange: The device is rebooting.
- Pulsing Amber/pink: The device is resetting to factory settings or a firmware update is in progress.
- Pulsing Red: The system might need attention.
Router Ring LED
The ring LED on the Orbi router gives you insights into the router's connectivity and status:
- Solid White: The router is ready to set up.
- Pulsing White: The router is powering up or attempting to connect after pressing the WPS button.
- Solid Magenta/pink: The router has no internet connection.
- Off: The router is connected to the internet. ✅
Satellite Ring LED
The ring LED on the Orbi satellite units indicates their connection status to the router:
- Pulsing White: The satellite is powering up or trying to connect to the router.
- Solid Magenta/pink : The satellite has no backhaul connection to the router or no IP address.
- Solid Blue (3 mins): The satellite has a good backhaul connection to the router. ✅

Additional Troubleshooting tips
A quick troubleshoot tip for magenta/pink ring LED is power off the Orbi router, satellites and any other router/modems connected. Wait 10 seconds. Then power back on. Wait up to 10 minutes for internet connection.
Satellites still magenta/pink? Try Sync buttons on the Orbi router and satellite.

Ring LED. Use the ring LED to see the sync status between your Orbi Voice and router.
Note: After your Orbi Voice is synced to the Orbi router and Amazon Alexa is added, your Orbi Voice’s ring LED behaviour changes. - Volume Control slider. Use the slider to increase or decrease the volume.
- Speaker On/Off button. Touch to mute or unmute the speaker. If the speaker is muted, the X icon next to the button is red.
- Alexa trigger button. Touch to prompt Alexa to listen for a command.
- Microphone On/Off button. Touch to mute or unmute the microphone. If the microphone is muted, the X icon next to the button is red and you cannot give Alexa a command.
- Sync button (also used for WPS connection). Use the sync button to sync your Orbi Voice to your Orbi router or to connect WPS-enabled devices to your Orbi Voice.
- Ethernet ports. Connect Ethernet devices to the Ethernet ports.
- Power On/Off button and Power LED. Press to turn your Orbi Voice on or off. The Power LED is located above the Power On/Off button.
- Power connector. Connect the power adapter to the Power connector.
- Reset button. Press the Reset button until the Power LED blinks amber to factory reset your Orbi Voice.

- If your router or satellite shows a solid magenta light, check your internet connection and ensure that the devices are properly connected to your modem.
