Question:
Hi mate,
When we receive an email with a video attachment it won’t play. When we open it, It goes to Adobe which says it is the wrong program to run it.
Could you please let me know how to correct this issue.
Thanks, Brian
Answer:
Hi Brian,
I understand that it's frustrating when video attachments don't open in the correct program. Let's get this sorted for you.
Since your laptop has Windows 11, and I've supplied it with Office and other apps installed, you already have a movie player. However, to ensure that you can play any video type, I recommend downloading VLC player.
Here's how to make VLC the default player for all video files:
- Download VLC player: Use the link provided here to download and install VLC player.
- Set VLC as Default Player:
a. Right-click on any video file.
b. If you don't see "Open With", try "show more options."
c. Choose "Open With" > "Choose another app."
d. Select VLC player from the list and check the box "Always."
e. Click "OK" to apply the settings.
This will ensure that all video attachments will open with VLC player, which should resolve your issue.
If you face any difficulty or need further assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out. I'm here to help!
