How to Fix "Another Account From Your Organization is Already Signed In" Error in Microsoft 365

This guide explains how to resolve the Microsoft 365 error message: "Another account from your organization is already signed in on this device."

Method 1: Quick Fix (Recommended)

This simpler method often resolves the issue without requiring a temporary account:

1. Open any Microsoft Office application (Word, Excel, or PowerPoint)
2. Look for your account name/initials in the top-right corner
3. Click the account name/initials
4. Select "Sign out"
5. Choose "Sign in" and enter your account credentials
6. Enter your password when prompted
7. The application should now activate with your account

If this quick method doesn't work, proceed to Method 2 below.

Method 2: Using a Temporary Account

Before starting, you'll need:

• An account from another organisation with Microsoft 365 Apps licence (e.g. M365 Business Standard, Premium, or Apps for Business)
• Access to Microsoft Office applications on your device

1. Open any Office application
2. Go to File Account
3. Click Sign out on the left side
   
   
   
4. Keep clicking Sign out to remove all accounts, ignore any "Account error" messages
   
   
   
5. Click Switch Licence on the right side
   
   
   
6. Sign in with the temporary account that has Microsoft 365 Apps licence
   
   
   
7. Select "Skip" or "Ask Later" if prompted with "Action Required"
   
   
   
8. Untick "Allow my organisation to manage my device"
   Click OK
   
   
   Wait approximately one minute for activation to complete
   
   
   
9. Click Next
   
10. After activation completes, click Switch Licence again
    
    
    
11. Sign in with your actual account credentials
12. Click OK when prompted
    
    
    
13. Click Next
    
14. Your Microsoft 365 apps are now activated with your account!
