6.50PM Update: Telstra email service is working again, after nearly 8 hours of outage. If I was using a bigpond/Telstra email I would be looking at switching to better email service. For free personal use, switch to Gmail or Outlook.com. For business users, check out G Suite.
Telstra had a major email outage since Dec 4 at 11 AM AEST. This article is written to help people fix the issue quickly.
If you're experiencing issue with outgoing emails not sending, then follow these steps.
Requirements: You will need a domain name.
- Sign up for a free account with Sendgrid.
- Change your outgoing email settings to:
server: smtp.sendgrid.net
port: 587
security: TLS (or STARTTLS)
username: <SendGrid username>
password: <SendGrid password>
