ScanWizard Pro v8.01 and v8.10 do not detect Microtek ScanMaker 9800XL.
Quick Solution
Install ScanWizard Pro V7.28 before connecting scanner.
Thorough Solution
A. Please make sure the setting of SCSI ID is at No.5 or is No.6 before scanner is powered up.
B. Please make sure the light source in Carriage Assembly of scanner light up after the scanner is powered up.
C. Please make sure the Status LED light up in Green steadily and stay in ready status after the scanner is powered up.
ScanWizard Pro V7.28 is the Twain compatible Microtek scanner driver S/W for Windows 7 system and is also the latest released version of Microtek scanner driver S/W that can support ScanMaker 9800XL to work under Windows 7 ( 32 bit & 64 bit ) / Vista ( 32 bit & 64 bit ) / XP ( 32 bit ) system through an USB2.0 connectivity, and can support ScanMaker 9800XL to work under Windows 7 ( 32 bit ) / Vista ( 32 bit ) / XP ( 32 bit ) system through a FireWire connectivity.
But if you can refer to the following instruction, ScanWizard Pro V7.28 can also support ScanMaker 9800XL to work under Windows 10 ( 32 bit & 64 bit ) / Windows 8 ( 32 bit & 64 bit ) / 7 ( 32 bit & 64 bit ) system through an USB2.0 connectivity.
When you do S/W installation or S/W un-installation under Windows system, the scanner can not link with PC through an USB cable connection and a FireWire cable connection, otherwise, the installation of scanner driver or the un-installation of scanner driver under Windows system will be affected. On the other hand, the installation and the un-installation of scanner driver S/W shall be with an administrator's privilege under Windows 10 / Windows 8 / Windows 7 / Windows XP system. Please watch to read this notice well, thanks.
Please refer to the following instructions, and then install Microtek scanner driver S/W : ScanWizard Pro V7.28 into PC Windows system. ( If ScanWizard Pro is not existed in Windows system, by this way, please skip step 2 and step 3. )
1. Power off your scanner at first, and then disconnect an USB cable and a FireWire cable from the scanner.
2. Uninstall Microtek scanner driver S/W, ScanWizard Pro, from Start --> All Programs --> Microtek ScanWizard Pro for Windows --> Uninstall Microtek ScanWizard Pro for Windows as the picture below.
3. Delete the following ScanWizard Pro folders from PC Windows system manually.
3.a : Delete the folder of ' ScanWizard Pro ' from path at C:\Program Files(x86)\Microtek\ScanWizard Pro.
3.b : Delete the folder of ' ScanPro ' from path at C:\WINDOWS\twain_32.
3.c : Uninstall Color Matching System in ScanWizard Pro from Control Panel --> Programs --> Programs and Features as the picture below.
4. Download new version of scanner S/W : ScanWizard Pro V7.28, after that, install this scanner driver S/W into PC Windows system. ( file size : 47.8M Bytes ) , it will create two folders, CMS folder and ScanWizard Pro folder, in it. You shall click to execute Setup.exe from Disk 1 in ScanWizard Pro folder at first, and then click to execute Setup.exe from Disk 1 in CMS folder afterwards. )
The process of installation for Color Matching System list you as follows.
5.a Uninstall the utility, Microtek Scanner ICC Profiler, from Start --> All Programs --> Microtek Scanner ICC Profiler --> Uninstall Microtek Scanner ICC Profiler as the picture below.
5.b Delete the folder of ' Microtek Scanner ICC Profiler ' from path at C:\Program Files(x86)\Microtek\Microtek Scanner ICC Profiler.
6.a Download an utility, Microtek Scanner ICC Profiler V5.0, from Microtek website at (apologies the website is no longer available), after that, install this utility into PC Windows system.
6.b Download the Help file : SWPHelp V1.04 and the IT8 Installer V3.27 from Microtek website at (apologies the website is no longer available) after that, install these two files into PC Windows system respectively.
7. Restart PC Windows system again.
8. Power up your Microtek scanner : ScanMaker 9800XL, and then make an USB cable connection between PC and your Microtek scanner. At this moment, if Device Manager and Scanner Finder can detect the linking device of ScanMaker 9800XL as below picture, after that, you can launch ScanWizard Pro and do Reflective Scan with ScanMaker 9800XL in PC Windows system through an USB2.0 connectivity.
After ScanWizard Pro is launched under Windows system, please click ' Skip ' if Calibration Reminder pop up on screen as the picture below.
If the Device Manager can not recognize the linking device of ScanMaker 9800XL in Windows 10 system, by this way, please click right mouse button and click to execute ' Update Driver Software ' on Imaging devices or on Other devices at first, and then click to select ' Browse my computer for driver software ' to proceed as the picture below.
If your Windows 10 system is a 32 bit system, by this way, please click to browse the scanner driver for Windows 7 system from ScanWizard Pro V7.28 folder --> Disk 1 -> Windows 7 --> X86 ( it is for Windows 32 bit system ), after that, the Device Manager will recognize the linking device of ScanMaker 9800XL as Microtek ScanMaker 9800XL ( USB ) afterwards.
If your Windows 10 system is a 64 bit system, by this way, please click to browse the scanner driver for Windows 7 system from ScanWizard Pro V7.28 folder --> Disk 1 -> Windows 7 --> AMD64 ( it is for Windows 64 bit system ) as the picture below, after that, the Device Manager will recognize the linking device of ScanMaker 9800XL as Microtek ScanMaker 9800XL ( USB ) afterwards.
If the Device Manager and the Scanner Finder can detect the linking device of ScanMaker 9800XL as Microtek ScanMaker 9800XL ( USB ) as the picture below, after that, you can launch ScanWizard Pro and do Reflective scan with ScanMaker 9800XL in PC Windows 10 ( 32 bit & 64 bit ) system through an USB2.0 connectivity.
